Having made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Jaguar "Project 7" F-Type was an unbelievable testament of an all-new design giving a nod to Jaguar's heritage. It's one of those vehicle that you HAVE to appreciate.
If anyone's a lover of Jaguar's racing heritage, the D-Type inspired F is a particularly amazing looking product. But how's the damn thing drive? Being that it's a concept, it doesn't have to drive well. The good news is that Autocar got to find out.
Unfortunately, the writer only got approximately five minutes — several laps — behind the wheel before some serious rains swept in and Jaguar told him to bring it in as the organization didn't want the interior ruined. Can you blame them?
That said, from what we're reading it's pretty clear that it was a remarkable experience but not overtly different from the standard F-Type V8 S model. That's not surprising as the company only put this vehicle together in four weeks.

...this thing is chuffing fast. Let’s call it 1790kg and 542bhp. The slightly heavier, and considerably less powerful F-type V8 S hit 60mph in 4.0sec dead on this very circuit in our hands.
With an extra 54bhp, then, you could realistically assume you’re looking at a 0-60mph time of three-point-something (though Jaguar claims 4.1sec), and a top speed of a claimed 186mph. As soon as you breathe on the throttle exiting a second-gear hairpin, Project 7 wants to light up its rear tyres. Which is ideal...
