2007 Lexus IS250 RWD Which Hit the Nail Right On The Head
Lexus aimed their hammer directly at the sport sedan buyer when they delivered the new IS series, which replaced the previous-generation IS300. While doing this, they kept it in the back of their minds that some atypical sport sedan buyers would be shopping in this segment as well. I think they hit the nail right on the head.

Every RWD vehicle should be available with LSD -- the IS250 is not. In order to get RWD with LSD you must order the IS350 Sport and if you opt for the IS350, you can't get AWD which is only available on the IS250. How stupid is that Lexus?

The IS is the class leader. Lexus is not stupid.

BMW 3 series does not have LSD either.

In order to get LSD you gotta get the M3.

Isn't LSD an option for the 3 series if you get the optional sport package?

LSD is what you're using if you're interested in a sport sedan and buy this over a 3-series.

however, if you want a supremely reliable little luxury sedan, buy this.

EnnNorak, when you own and run a successful auto business like Toyota and Lexus, than I take your words seriously. Entil than, hate all you want, Lexus is taking over baby. Best luxury auto company in North America for the past 10 years.

HAHAHA yeah right all their models are basically rebadged or using most of toyotas parts. The RX is a Toyota Harrier; The ES is a Camry; The GX is the Land Cruiser Prado; The LX is a Land Cruiser; The GS is a Mark X with same platforms etc. The only real Lexus is the IS and the LS

it's foolish to pay more for the same car just because it has different logo on it. that's pathetic. just buy the toyota version....much better value and not a poser.

Just a matter of fact, last time I was in Japan even the IS and LS had Toyota badge on the hooh.

The current IS, GS and LS don't share any Toyota body styles (I think they share some interior parts though). I think the ES uses a Camry platform though.

The IS series of cars are great for what they are designed for, ie, sport and luxury in the same package.

A friend was looking at the IS 250 and we went for a drive three weeks ago. He was all fired up about it until we happend by a Subaru dealership. Neither of us had ever driven a Subaru so we took a 2008 Subaru 2.5 GT Legacy out for a drive. It had leather, dual A/C, sunroof, AWD, Nav kit and a turbo. Did 0 - 60 in 5.8 (is WAY faster than the Lexus)has more room in it and rode better. My friend bought the car on the spot and pocketed the $10,000 difference. So far he is very stisfied except for the lack of cashe that a Lexus may have given him.
Several years ago Lexus stood almost alone in some catagories, but today it has some serious competition all across the board and after two GS's I am personally anxious to see the 2008 CTS. If I buy it, I will not be ashamed to pocket the $10,000 difference or to drive American. Although a Japanese company, Subaru is made in Indiana while the IS is made in Japan.

ahh, subarus are gr8 cars, your friend should be happy with them. the dc area is popular with subies and they make a great value with the combo of safety and AWD.

THE LEXUS-IS SUCKS, Toyota-Lex overdid the design of this wanabe luxury/sports model. The design is unbalanced it sits up too high, the hood is too long, its a very narrow car, and it is cramped as hell.

I would never go to Las Vegas in my friends Lexus IS EVER AGAIN. We had to be picked up in a toyota van from "Lexus", and had the car towed at a Lexus dealership two days later because the AC stopped working and the battery melted from the heat. I asked one of the mechanics why would this happen it's a new car he said "LEXUS IS NOT MADE TO TAKE TOO MUCH HEAT". My friend had to dish out $325 dollars to replace the battery, and fix the AC even though the car has warranty. The dealership told my friend he had to go to the dealer he got the car from for the warranty to be in effect. When we were heading home the damm car could barely make it up the mountains in the desert.

The IS is not the class leader! It is not even in the top 3 and when the next CTS comes out in Sept it may have 4 rivals ahead of it. It has a well finished interior but is so tight inside that it mine as well be a 2-door. I passed on the IS for an A4 and my second pick would have been the 328xi.

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.

Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2

Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.

Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....
