2009 Nissan 370Z Review - Z be nimble, Z be quick...

The Nissan 370Z is all new for 2009.

Almost every piece and component of the 370Z has been re-designed by Nissan. I read a review stating: “this is the fastest production Z ever built.” Amen to that. The car (especially the rear) is definitely chopped over the older versions, has wider-flared fenders, a shorter wheelbase, a lot less room inside than the earlier versions from the 90’s, but it now has sportier lines and is one sharp car! Most of all, it is a blast to drive (it knocks the socks off of the 4th generation version that I owned)!!! I haven’t driven a Z (or even ridden in one) since I had my 1993 300ZX, and this new version did not disappoint.

This is what Road and Track said about the 370Z in their comparo with the Cayman S:

"An observation we made over the week was the VQ's sensitivity to temperature. Engines prefer cool weather, but the VQ absolutely detests hot days. During the track day, we had to pit after about four laps in each session, the VQ winded by high oil temps and limited by its engine management to 6500 rpm."

Once again, Turbosypder (shakes head) tries to belittle an Asian car maker and never has anything good to say, unless it comes from Europe and/or is built by Caucasian people. You know Turbosyder, with every negative comment you make, you make yourself look smaller than you already are. I think the klan should revoke someone's membership...

So as to totally smoke screen the content of all future car reviews we should all go and find a negative or controversial comment from the magazine of our choice and post it in said thread. Thanks for the idea. I'll use it next time we get a BMW or Porsche review posted here.

I guess with 30k I'll save by buyin' 370Z over Cayman, I'll just throw some money at a aftermarket oil cooler and treat my family to vacation for the next 5 years :)

I would say there are way to many "Europhiles" that own computers or have internet access.

I am sure 9/10 regular people would prefer a European car; then again most people are stupid so that is a null argument.

On a personal level would i drive a 370Z? No. They look stupid, feel inferior and are missing that little ingredient found in most euro cars called Passion.

Look at the bright side Edmunds just drove one and Actually Broke it on the track...hahahah

The rear Differential blew itself to smithereens after a few laps, now that is quality! The frog running Nissan better sharpen his pencil and stop selling cheep watches trying to compete with the Rolex of sports cars from Europe.

I'm sure the same principle applies to the BMW 335 that dropped dead due to overheating turbos when it was driven against the GTR last year.

AHH, why would they pit a 335i against a GT-R, and the 335i, had problems back in 2006, it had no oil cooler I believe, and that was the test agaist the G coupe.

You're right, it was the G. But doesn't change the fact that even the mighty 3 had some engineering flaws that resulted in some embarrassing moments with the press. The point is that bringing this stuff up in relation to an article where the test car has no such issues is reaching and irrelevant. Yet, that's what some here try to do because they have obvious prejudices.

My only beef w/ this review is that the writer feels no one over 6'3 can drive this car comfortably.

Being 6'8, I managed quite fine with the exception being thigh support.

^^^QFT, here is the deal, if you are 6'3 and fat, a person will have problems. ^'8 and in shape, no problems...

At the local Mercedes dealer, I was told that a guy wanted to buy a C63, but he couldn't fit the seats...that is his fault for being too fat.

Drove 370z, fun, drove new 2008 Cayman S, sublime. Got a sweet deal on the Cayman S, if you don't get it you never will. Would buy a used Cayman S over new 370Z for every reason, it is just more and better period. Is it worth the cost new vs. new, yes, if you can afford it, and if you can't, there are ways around that. No excuse for not getting the better car.

Maybe because a Ferrari requires 4X the maintenance that the Cayman S would. Or the fact the F1 car has 1 seat. Since i didnt make the previous comment about the Cayman S over the Z i will inject what i believe to be his meaning.

Both cars you can drive every day, both cars are relatively simple and inexpensive on maintenance. In both cars you will feel comfortable driving them for long distances, or even tracking them. They are both similar in many ways, it just happens that he felt that the Cayman was a much better vehicle; as will every person that will test the pair with an open, un-objected mind.

As for you 43LE i would think reading these forums and most likely being a "motor head" type of person you would understand the difference between car classes, car uses, and car needs. If he were looking at Aston Martin's and Turbo 911's then sure maybe a Ferrari would fit in.

Just stop being angry because your little Jap Car that everyone is so proud of doesnt compete with its big German roommate.

Or better yet go test drive a Cayman S and tell me what you think. I dare you to tell us all we are wrong.
