BMW M3 CSL Supercharged sets new record on the ring- WOW!
Swedish racing star Richard Göransson once more took place behind the wheel of the project car "Loaded", and drove lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife that puts supercars like the Koenigsegg, Pagani and Porsche in the shade. With the time of 7 minutes 22.8 seconds around the 20.6 kilometer long track he was over five seconds faster than the original target of 7 minutes 28 seconds.

"It was an utterly fantastic feeling when I saw the time on the display! We have fought hard since 2004 and finally we have reached our target, and then some!" said Göransson.

Göransson arrived at the German track on November the 5th with owner and builder of "Loaded" - Anders Fransson.

But the day almost ended in tears. On the fastest part of the track, where the speed hits around 300 km/h, the front splitter came off.

No, this is not a production car. Good job for BMW, but unfortunately you can't drive this on public roads.

The'Ring is considered a "public road" in Germany. The laws that apply on normal German roads also apply on the 'Ring.

The GTR can't lap the ring in in 7:22, so the IS-F surely couldn't. This is a supersharged 600bhp CSL. Its pointless trying to compare the production IS-F and GT-R to it.

Well isn't this time even faster than the time posted by Porsche carrera GT? That is a monstrous performance. I think this is the most radically configured CSL, probably even couple hundred pounds lighter than the standard CSL.

You know that's impressive, but in the actual world all any of us need is a 1964 Dodge Dart with push button transmission.

You see there's these things called speed limits and on most freeways we can't drive above 65mph.

Also,...this is why people buy sports cars...to get the feel that your driving a car like this. IMO it's no fun to drive a car that any tourist with a camera can jump in and drive fast. It's gotta have an edge to it that requires skill to control...not technology that plays down the lack thereof.

Let me get a few facts straighten out here for you guys. The time 7:22:85 is no big deal for a non-production highly tuned car driven by professional race car driver.

FYI: Paris Hilton can do 7:22 with her Mercedes-Benz/McLaren SLR 722 also, thus the 722 was named to honor it's achievement around the Nürburgring track in 7:22 time. I believe the SLR 722 GT could do a few seconds faster too.

When the NISMO GT-R EVO V-SpecII comes out next year, it'll eat the M3 CSL for lunch.

What the hell are you talking about lenkun, the 722 refers to the victory by Stirling Moss in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR with the starting number 722 (indicating a start time of 7:22 a.m.) at the Mille Miglia in 1955.

And Paris Hilton can get a time of 7:22 around the ring?

You must be another fake, this site is full of them.

your comments are not very intelligent...

Bugatti is not a piece of crap, just because it "cannot turn". I don't even know what you are trying to say, because it does turn, perhaps not as well as other cars, but is lacking the best turn radius what makes a car crappy?

Please consider that its main purpose is not track performance.

And where did you find that 40% of all production is sitting in the factory without buyers, because I saw that they were sold until 2009, and last I checked, we are not in 2009 (2010 production) yet.

The Veyron is not "PIECE OF CRAP!" It's an incredible car that you WISH you could ever see, let alone buy! It's just not a lightweight sports car, it's an engineering achievement!

First of all this CSL is not a normal production car. It's highly modified.Based on that it's not really a fair comparison for production cars.Sounds like this car is set up as a race touring car.I'm certain the any of the Euro Touring Cars in that series could beat a production cars times around the ring. What then does this proove. The answer is nothing. Therefore its not a fair comparison. A supercharged CSL with race track suspension is not production and therefore this whole thing is bogus.

xj13 I think Kraut was implying that this is not a stock bimmer. Also while the GTR is slower around the ring it is a production car while this bimmer clearly is not.So frankly I'm not sure what the point is by proving a modified car not intended for production with a track suspension is faster then a production car.Your comparing apples to oranges here.
