BMW M3 vs Audi RS4 - review/comparison
Another comparison of these two cars, this time in Africa. The guys put a few thousand miles on those cars to make sure they get a proper feeling of the cars, so don't make stupid comments as usual.
The track is at high altitude, that is why the 0-60 or 1/4mile test are getting worse than usual numbers. Just take in consideration the power lost by those engines at 1398 meters = 4586.61417 feet, where the performance tests are done.

Audi: 0-100km/h 5.4 seconds
M3: 0-100km/h 5.6 seconds
You should do some homework.

I don't think rg said anything wrong. Those 0-60 numbers are significantly slower than what they are closer to sea level. I'm a little surprised that the Audi was faster 0-60...no big surprise with the track numbers.

These are 0-100km/h times, not 0-60 times.
The RS4 has been clocked at 4.3 sec 0-60, so I'm not at all surprised that it's slightly quicker.
Well, actually I kind of am- it's heavier with identical power. Those engineers must be magicians.

awd has a big advantage in acceleration despite its disadvantage in weight to the M3

Wow, these cars tied with exactly 84 points each. Interesting.

It is absolutely mind blowing how far Audi has come in just the last 2 years. First the RS4, which is tied with the newly released BMW M3 with V8 in this comparison test and has beaten its Munich rival in other comparisons.
Then the Audi R8 which has successfully defeated the iconic sportscar benchmark Porsche 911 including the Turbo variant and a host of other competitors ranging from the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, to the Corvette Z06, BMW M6 and Dodge Viper SRT-10.
Now we have a 580 horsepower with 479 lb.ft of torque monster in the RS6 waiting to arrive here in the U.S.
Now there is confirmation of the Audi R8 with V10 engine by Audi of America Vice President, Johan de Nysschen.
Audi's product offerings are looking absolutely brilliant.

of course the audi was faster to 60 it has 4wd thats expected. If you look at the higher speeds the M3 is quicker. Both nice cars though.
germannut 4/5 of your response is irrelevant to the article....fyi

cs4444, there's no need for bitter excuses. The RS4 and M3 are very evenly-matched-- obviously, as they had identical scores in this article. What the M3 lacks to the RS4 in straight-line speed it makes up in the twisties, although both are very adept in either situation. The RS4 has better steering feel, but the M3 doesn't understeer. The RS4 is nicer on the inside, but the M3 has more up-to-date interior technology. I could go on...

s4 i wasn't posing that comment as an excuse.I was drawing facts from the article posted above.I just feel people read to much into 0 to 60 times.I was trying to draw to peoples attention that the BMW was quicker at higher speeds.B/c i know people just look at 0 to 60 times and automatically conclude one car is faster than the other from that data, when logically a 4wd car would be quicker at lower speeds.I wasn't implying one car was better than the other, or whatever you were getting at.

I like the RS4 a lot except thats it's only offered in manual trans. It totally bums me out. I have 2 kids and have to keep my right hand free in case they need a beating...ha ha

It is too heavy, yes, but the amazing drivetrain does a fantastic job of disguising it. It really wouldn't make a difference for me on a daily basis, and I'd definitely buy it over the new M3. However, if I was buying two cars, it would probably be the RS4 sedan and M3 convertible- so don't think I dislike the M3.

RS4 is very keen to understeer as most Quattro Audi's are. The combo of having more torque and AWD is going to benefit the Audi off the line.

I can't wait for the Lexus IS-F to win every comparison against these wannabe performance cars. None of them have an 8 speed automatic or the quality and reliability of a Lexus product. Their engines are also crude and outdated and can't match the smoothness of a Lexus engine.

David, Is 1989 the year you were born? It MUST be! Your are so imature! You make stupid remarks in every post, like stating that the Audi and the BMW have ¨crude and outdated engines¨ The BMW´s 4.0 v8 is brand spanking NEW! Those remarks prove ONCE MORE that you are NO enthusiast at all. Well, for plain ignorant morons like yourself there´s always LEXUS!

GermanNut. please add useless and incorrect audi trivia here. as to how far they have come etc. also feel free not to have any claity on why theri cars are still nothing more than a VW, fwd that have to be altered, chassis dynamics of a indian cow and way lower realized price points int he market. then poin tto the r8 for no reason. or th eupcoming RS6 which will get smoked by the twin turbo M5 CSL. hows the used car slaes business?
