CNet Reviews The 2008 BMW M6- Can They Figure Out The iDrive?

As in other current M models from BMW, the 2008 BMW M6 is afflicted with a dual personality. It masquerades as a big luxury coupe around town, but when the roads open up, the M6 can transform into a superhero. At a push of the M button on the steering wheel, the suspension tightens and the throttle response becomes more acute. Where a superhero might where a cape, the M6 gets a carbon fiber roof, lowering its center of gravity. But while the big, long coupe shows a lot of brawn in its styling, the high trunk lid makes it look like it could go on a diet.

BMW fits the car out with plenty of technology for driving and infotainment. Both the M button and a star button on the wheel are programmable, letting the driver customize the car a little, although this theme could be taken further. iDrive still serves as the interface for navigation, stereo, cell phone, and other car systems, but that system is about to get a radical overhaul, which isn't soon enough.

@ the troll formerly known as HondaJapan (or Staar or JoshLexus4Ever),

I'm going to share a little tidbit I gave the troll formerly known as MT earlier:

"There's too much good in life that it's not worth the risk of your personal health by forcefully seeking attention by trolling B.S. across the internet. The emotional crash (and it will come) will be so severe that it will lead to crime, bipolar disorder, and/or "pushing up daisies". So with heart felt sincerity, SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP! There is no shame in doing so."

Having said that, you are an even bigger f*cking idiot than MT and amazinBimmer combined. Your racial insult of Germans is just as inappropriate as MT's insult of Chinese and Asians in General.

Just be happy that Nazi Germany doesn't exist any longer. If it had, they would make an exception to gas you first due to your willful ignorance, regardless of your ethnic background -- and we would probably thank them for it.

HondaJapan, just remember the Imperial Japanese were allies with the Nazi's during WWII amd they were much more brutal than the Germans.

Shame on you, HondaJapan. Lexus is a wonderful company, and it doesn't deserve to be part of your stupid and ignorant comment. It only worsens people's grudge towards Lexus, and frankly, I don't blame them (and Lexus doesn't deserve it either). It's your god damn ignorance!

It's might be true that German computer isn't as user-friendly as others; however, I am sure it smells better than your recyclable cellphone made of used toilet paper! Doesn't it make you realize that your face is actually so close to where people take dumps? Sweet isn't it!

HondaJap:

Calling German car fans "Nazis" is like calling Japanese car fans "Hirohito-worshipping war-criminal incest lovers".

Calling the M6 an overpriced Z4 is like calling the ES an overpriced Camry. Wait a second..

The Japanese make some of the worlds most unreliable cars. Ever hear of Suzuki and Izuzu? Benz and Audi ranked higher than Nissan and Scion in the 2008 DEPENDABILITY survey by JD-powers. BMW was even higher than Honda. My BMW 335i and Audi Q7 have had NO problems at all. Saying German cars are super unreliable is ignorant and blind.

I have a feeling either the Japanese government is brainwashing you or you live in Nagasaki.

You're right, while a tech marvel the software sucked. I remember driving the 2003 RR Phantom it's Idrive (nothing like the 7er) worked brilliantly, simple and logical. I noticed they changed it for the worse the next year.

Bored,
HondaJapan can't help himself. He suffers from multiple personality disorder.

He is known by many names on this site: Teknik, auto001 and a once former name of Staar before it was deleted, due to his ignorant, hateful verbal attacks.

He is less than human and should be treated as such and ignored.
