Cadillac CTS review - better than A4 and 3-series?
The Cadillac CTS is not a car. No, really. It looks like a car, and it does all the things a car should - most of them exceptionally well - but it’s not a car.
It’s a statement.
It says, loud and clear, to all the luxury sport sedans of the world, “Come and get me.”

I think you're trying to say: "The Americans Finally do something right" (besides Vette).

CTS...3rd place, sorry!

cptamazing,
What US publication is better than C&D? Please don't say Motortrend because we all know they have writers that have not graduated college and is basically a glam car mag. They also write reviews even if they haven't driven the car, much like many here on autospies.
By the way, here is a Road and Track article:
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=31&article_id=6147
1) G35
2) CTS

R&T and C&D are the same magazine, so validating one with the other is moot.
Automobile is a better magazine than either, and at least MT is a bit different, IMHO. I get them all, so I guess they all have some entertainment value. Too bad the internet publishes their news 3 weeks ahead of the print mags.

RT and CD have the same owner but the staff is different and they are different style magazines with different perspectives.

Well, when I read both copies I get of each one every month, they are essentially reviewing and comparing and testing the same cars. I realize they are not the exact same thing, but they surely do cover 80% of the same stuff each month, and I cannot recall one picking a different comparo winner than the other.

The CTS is a very well crafted machine with exceptional interior and great driving dynamics. Truly a very well needed icon for its dying maker and hopefully a life-saver for it also. Very well done GM, keep em coming.

with the exception of audi the cadillac has a nicer interior and for the price its a better car then the base 328 2.0t or c300 those cars are all jokes and way way overpriced. granted its no 335i or a5 but those cars are 8k more and you get more with the caddy. Just because its american doesnt mean it is bad. What bad things is car and driver (joke of a mag anyway) going to say about the cts-v smoking the m and amg cars.

its amazing how u would compare a CTS 3.6L 306hp to a 328i, 2.0t, or C300.

I can honestly the CTS is among the best interiors period with no excuses in its class, and i have sat in one and driven it. The CTS has beaten many cars in its class in comparison test, and when compared to the C class, G35, and others it certainly has a better interior......and while it isnt as fast as the Class leader in acceleration the 335i, or it doesnt handle as sharply it IN MY OPINION is the best compromise between luxury, performance, and traditional luxury comfort. It doesnt wallow, its steering isnt to light, its ride isnt floaty nor to firm, its the perfect car for the person that favors quality, refinement, comfort, and performance with equal measure and while being the size of a ES....sounds like a car that could be aclass leader to me if its not the best it certainly is within the top 3 without second guessing

I tend to think that a lot of people who say the MB has a low quality interior have never driven one. I say this because though the MB interior might be a bit stoic, it is made with quality materials and is put together very well. I dont think it much better or worse than others in its class but certainly not the bad interior so many made it out to be without even a test drive.

well sir, if you simply listen to any review, ANY, or have sat in one you know the C class interior is lackluster in fact Mercedes cars in general have came ALONG WAY QUALITY WISE.....you dont drive materials, the way a car drives has nothing to do with a cars low quality interior, poor desighn.....face facts yes benz has quality issues....if you want proof check any review

I can actually think of several reviews, sir, that praise many aspects of the car including the interior. My point of driving is one of physical proximity. One must sit in and touch an interior while driving. Not so while shopping, looking at nor viewing pictures of an automobile. I maintain the opinion, after having driven one for several days, that people who comment poorly on the interior quality are actually more adverse to the interior appearance.

My first choice for a new car would be the upcoming B8-body S4, but that model may not be available when my lease expires on my current car. If that is indeed the case, the Cadillac CTS is on my "short list" of alternative vehicle choices, along with the Audi A4, BMW 3-series and Infiniti M-series.
I am pleased that an American automaker is finally making a car that I would be interested in buying. Keep it up, GM. There's hope for you yet.

"So while the G35 Sport hasn't set the world on fire in terms of cutting-edge style, it is still a very good-looking and functional sedan. Its more fluent chassis, snappier drivetrain and slightly tighter structure more than compensate, making it the narrow victor in this comparison."
"Inside, the G35 can't match the Cadillac's razzle-dazzle"
...I do not care much for razzle nor dazzle in an interior.
Your initial comment that the "Japs are sooo far behind" is thus proven to be WRONG.

the review saids NARROW victory, and that was solely on the basis of performance times...........so the CTS was the better luxury performance sedan.....the G35 produced better performance times........

My 07 CTS is at the dealer being fixed again, (8th time). I have been driving an 09, what a world of a difference, the car is very enjoyable driving experience. It is world's better then my friends G35x, (slower, but ride and handiling are better managed)

The CTS has shown the most improvement in its class. The current product is exceptional especially when compared to the previous model. So there, the award for the most improved in its class goes to the CTS

The redesigned CTS I'm not to exited about. It doesn't look nearly as sporty as the last one.

HAHAHA, Auto Authority? How much did GM paid for this ad? Over priced at almost $50k with options, lack of performace, old fart or Rapper wannabe status brand. cptamazing4 - I know you are trying to sell Cadillac but you are at the wrong site. Maybe the next design will come close to BMW or Audi. If GM still standing

That's why Cadillac makes a V. It slaps everything. If you're going to compare the future top model of G's, compare them to future top model V's.

true but the point of it is the G37 is ONLY offered in the coupe U cant get a G37 sedan right now. So if they are going to test a sedan, there is only one engine to choose from. Likewise with the coupe.

i don't get why an article praising Cadillac has to have a headline that ends with "-better than A4 and 3-series?" (besides the fact that Autospies loves to start flame wars with dumb headlines)

Finally the biggest car maker in the world made something worldwide competitive. But it wont sell in europe. They will need more than just one hit and one model.

Silly bigot, the CTS is better than the 3 and the 5. I was wondering how far I'd have to scroll to see your moronic post. Go read the JD Power article and see where your "benchmark" ranks. lol

it still is the benchmark his idiotic comments or not, and while you are using JD power as a way to redicule a brand(certainly they are the end all source for anything...yeah right)...the BMW brand is the highest ranking European brand not to mention in the top 10.......its always funny to read people respond to these common idiots just to turn around and give another FOOLISH response that makes them look just as common.....

If I was buying a cadillac it would most certainly be a Seville STS or Deville DTS. the CTS is an entry level Caddy. It reminds me of the Cadillac Cimmeron, aka a luxury Cobalt.
the DTS is a really nice car. the Caddy Hardtop convertable is nice as well.
