The Camry won first place last time from another reviewer. When was the last time edmund.com said something nice to Toyota?

On the other note, there is a video of the Nissan GT-R hitting the track. Check it out at edmunds.com

Uh, the SE is basically a bodykit. The two trim levels are quite "comparable."

Both of you are thick as bricks...

The Accord V6 is a well made rational car . It's reasonably priced for what it offers, has good safety features , holds resale value faily well, has a refined engine , provides comfort, handles well enough for a daily driver, offers space, comfort , and has user friendly technology .

In my opinion this entire segment offers practical cars for those who are willing to accept a little boredom with driving but want to feel that there's enough positives to balance the equation .

In fact I would even venture to say that if someone had his heart set on a more expensive sedan but was not sure or happy about some of the current offers --it might just be worth his while to lease or buy an Accord and save the money .

what's funny is they actually describe the interior materials as "rich" in the Altima...havent heard that word used to describe a Nissan Interior in a while! They must've got it right this time, good job Nissan.

Yea, I think the accord is probably a better bet.

Yeah the Accord & Altima are the least boring so they'd be my pick too. The Malibu is great & all but lacks the performance of the Accord & Altima; the Camry is so boring I'd personally find it depressing to drive everyday.

I disagree with the Altima in 2nd place. I've had more problems with NEW Nissans than any other cars. Nissan also has terrible dealers. I rented a Camry and agree the interior is embarassing. The Accord looks great and the Malibu looks pretty good too.

Your personal experience doesn't reflect that of the majority of owners.

I drove the current Altima and It was impressive. It has design elements that are better then my 06 G35. (granted, my G was designed in 2000)

I have driven all these cars and I have to agree here the Accord was nice. Though to me it was a boring drive, but fit and finish were superb. The Malibu really suprised me because I am not used to an American car in this price range to be nice. The interior color combo in the one I drove was nice (not that baseball glove look) and it drove well. The Camry is a boring car. But what shocked me is the quality it was lacking. Toyota has pulled the wool over MANY people's eyes that they are the best made, cause this car did feel the least well made, even the Chevy felt better quality! My friend's mother has a 2007 Camry SE and she has had transmission issues as well as paint fading on the trunk, in less than 10K! I won't be buying a Toyota!

I'd go with the Altima too. But the Malibu is a looker too. If it had the Altima's performance it would win hands down.

With so many differing opinions on 'which is best' in this segment, I think the only safe statement that can be made is...

These Vehicles All Represent Varying Degrees Of Excellence, and Should Serve Their Owners Well For Years To Come - Drive & be Happy!

Enough with the 'shootouts' already.

It would have been nice if they had tested the SE, since their biggest complaint was too soft a ride. Not every buyer (certainly not in this class) wants edge of the seat handling thru the twisties. The XLE is for them, not for auto reviewers.

Sounds about right to me. Accords are the best in this class, through all trim levels. This test proves that the Camry isn't consistent throughout its trim levels (vs. the Motor Trend review). I rented an Altima a few months ago and liked it, but there was nothing too sporty about it. Interior was nice, though, but still far off the Accord's.

What did I tell you? In the other article, which basically had opposite results, I said it could be the Accord in first any day next week. Well, it is now.

It has nothing to do with "biases," as "Lexus" implies, but the cars themselves are strikingly even. The Altima is the sportiest, but it also has a very stylish exterior and a competitive interior. The Accord is the all-rounder, with the most upmarket style, the most luxurious interior and the handling you would expect with a Honda. The Malibu is chic, well-built and class-competitive. The Camry... well, I used to think it was reliable, but even that has come into question. At least it looks good.

For me, it would be hard to choose between the Accord and Altima, but actually, the Nissan's performance might win my heart. I would wait for the SE-R if I were shopping in this class, though.
