EVO Reviews The Nissan GT-R
Don’t look at me, look at the freakin’ traffic in front of you!’ Generally it’s not very healthy for a biker to take his eyes off the road for so long, but you can’t really blame him – it’s not every day you see a brand-new Japanese supercar. We’re in Tokyo taking photographs and trying not to cause accidents, the latter being tricky when a car looks this good.
Watching the new Nissan GT-R’s reflection rippling across the surface of yet another mirror-windowed office block, it looks a world away from the bluntly functional exterior of the old R34 Skyline. The new car’s performance should be sensational, but for the first time this is a GT-R than can be craved at a standstill as well as at full tilt.
It is brilliantly and unashamedly Japanese in its design – a German or French manufacturer just wouldn’t make a car look like this. With its bold lines and riot of creases, it fits into the Tokyo atmosphere perfectly, yet it’s also aerodynamically tidy, with a drag coefficient of Cd 0.27........

It's true GT-R is not a beauty, just like every new BMW from Chris Bangle.
At least it's way superior performance.

The GT-R is just another overrated boy racer car for the fast and the furious crowd. Next...

"..but be warned: on a swift run the fuel needle will drop almost as fast as the needle on the boost gauge rises…" This makes me wonder...what is the EPA rating on this car!?!

"I just don't think that a car that belongs in the boy-racer category should sell for $70,000."
I could not agree more. This is a $50K boy racer car advertised as a supercar and priced beyond its class. The boys from the Nintendo generation will think is a bargain but no MAN will choose this abomination over a Porsche.

Star - who gives a damn what you think. You are just a germ fanboi. Nissan will sell every single GT-R that they make, and not worry about what a child like you thinks.

I love it, but I wouldn't buy it at the $60K markup some dealers will be charging.

This car wasn't meant to look 'pretty,' it's simply an evolution of it's predecessors, Nissan, couldn't risk alienating the cult-like following the car has in many parts of the world. Also, if it's got a Cd of .27, I think it's still doing what it needs to do w/o all the makeup.
