Well, you BMW lovers have to thank Infiniti for that jump in performance. BMW is feeling the heat!

The 335XI makes every 50+ year old man recognize that He was smart enough to wait for 99 Ferrari performance in a 07 Sedan. I'm not a fifty year old male, but I can feel as wize and safe as one as I try to find roads that can push this bear to its breakin point. As long as the Twin Turbos hold...this car might be the best buy ever.

G35Lover, though I see where your bias is, I don't think that is directly related *just* to Infiniti. It's just the current trend in the market. Performance will always increase over time (unless we hit another gas shortage)

Well, that makes the BMW 335i sedan faster than the E46 M3 in the 0-60. Quite damn impressive for BMW.
Not only that, but the 335i sedan is faster from 0-60 than the 335i coupe which has 2 less doors and costs $3K more base price.
The 335i coupe is now useless.
Or I guess you can look at it this way. In whichever form you want, either sedan or coupe, the BMW 3-series is the downright winner in class.
The Ultimate Driving Machine lives up to its name, yet again....
Now the 335i sedan will be my next car and I'm going to save about $3-5K in the process when compared to the 335i coupe and I'll be able to hit 0-60 .1 seconds faster.
The deals just get sweeter and sweeter.

Is that an error in the 0-60 time? Why is it 0-60 in 4.8seconds but 5-60 takes 5.6 seconds. I think there may be an error in this article. I believe the 0-60 time was probably 5.8 seconds which is closer to what BMW was printing. But maybe the 5-60 number should have been 4.6 seconds

GermanNut, that is what I was trying to tell someone a few threads ago when they said the coupe would be faster... it isn't. The sedan has always been better balanced than the coupe and convertible due to the structural reinforcements that are required for 2-doors. Case in point the E46 330i has a 50.2/48.8 weight distrobution, the coupe is closer to 51/49 if i remember, also the sedan is a little lighter.

The reason why the 335i sedan is faster than the coupe is because although the sedan weighs more, it has a better weight distribution than the coupe.

That is very impressive for a four sedan. The 335i 0-60 in 4.8 sec is now on par with the fastest M3 in BMW history. The "M3 CSL".

You guys just like to argue over things that are so subjective. Keep in mind there is a seat for everyone. I have personally seen people choose a car based only on color. You know as well as I it is darn near impossible to buy a bad car these days and each manufacturer offers some things that others dont that at a certain point in time will be more important to one than the other. So be nice to each other!

uh, the 335i sedan is only a few thousand dollars more than the IS350. And it has maintenance free, so there goes the cost savings. And you can get it in a manual transmission. And in Spring you can get it with all-wheel drive. Considering the 2006 330i beat both the IS350 and the 2006 and new 2007 G35 in every comparison test they've had since all three debuted, I don't think the slight upcharge for the 335i is going to stop it from maintaining the dominance the lesser 330i already has established.

Also the 2007 G35 lost to the 2006 BMW 330i based on the magic feel. Don't say that the new 335i will take care of that because I know it will. But since we were talking about price the G35 sport will top around what $39k.

Okay...
GermanNut and jeffy, you've swayed me. I'll probably be getting a 335xi sedan rather than a 328xi coupe for my winter car, but the new coupe has those killer looks... so I guess I'm still not completely sold!

Again people, the E46 M3, C55 AMG and S4 were the benchmarks.
Have you people seen those skidpad numbers, better than an M3.

Do you suffer from shitty BMW lineup syndrome?
Yes...because your cars just like you suck horribly.
Stop hating Audi, Logical, I know you love the new R8. You've even admitted it yourself that you like the design and Larry has also said that he thinks the car will be a big success.
Stop hiding your appreciation and let it out.
I don't suffer from bipolar,
I just like having something you can't afford. That is a new and great lineup of BMWs.
335i sedan, is the next ride on my list thank you.
I'm going to turn myself into an official BMW & Audi supporting enthusiast on this site

The G35 will do nothing--I drove a coupe today and it was a huge disappointment. Cheap interior, poor handling, just ugly. This car made me remember why I dislike Japanese cars--they may look good but execution, solidity, and a certain sense of "genuiness" are simply lacking.

GermanNut, the 335 coupe looks better than the sedan, so my advice is, go for the coupe. Except ofcourse if u want a family car.

yeah but the sedan has better weight distribution, it accelerates .1 seconds faster has 2 extra doors and is 3K cheaper than the coupe.
I agree the coupe looks nicer but I think with the proper dual exhaust (one on each side) the 335i sedan looks alright. If they could change those tail lights to resemble those found on the coupe, now that would be the car for sure.
I know BMW 530i, I've already have my fun on the interiors. You obviously haven't driving a BMW, neither has Logical for that matter.

German Nut:
The Coupe is faster. The times that you should hold in high regards should be from BMW by BMW. To that end, times are recorded as 5.3 and 5.5 for the coupe (manual and automatic, respectively) and 5.4 and 5.6 for the sedan.
You can never, ever compare different cars on different days and different conditions and expect good results. I am a toxicologist who works in Regulatory Affairs, I can tell you that results will only be meaningful if you test on identical conditions. With that said, follow BMW's results.
Are these the reasons you are picking one over the other? I'm surprised they would let write blogs on this website...you have no experience and are very naive.

Let's make this clear...THIS IS A BEAST! I have owned a 97' 328i saloon for ten years, have had access to a 99 C4 CAB in Co., driven a 968 at Nurenberg, and tooled around in a Ferrari 430 at Rd America and a prvt track in Nrth MI. This car combines the best of all of them. I have always wanted a sports car I can use everyday without worry...THIS IS IT!
