Jay Leno is probably one of the more qualified individuals to drive the all-new Cadillac ELR. That's because he owns BOTH a Chevrolet Volt AND a Cadillac CTS-V, which is arguably the best sport sedan on the planet.

Now, General Motors is touting the ELR as a luxurious and sporty option in the electric car arena. Please keep in mind this is moreso along the lines of a hybrid a la the Volt's propulsion system.

To me the problem with the ELR is that it is too similar to the Chevrolet Volt. In the world of the green cars, conventional logic does NOT apply. Remember the Lexus HS250h? Hell, even the Lexus CT200h hasn't been doing great sales numbers.

Brand cachet doesn't matter in this class and if you ask me, I think this is yet another vehicle that will miss GM's sales expectations.

Lose your range anxiety and get lost in the luxury of leather, wood and carbon fiber of Cadillac's long-awaited hybrid offering.
