Motor Trend Compares 4 Popular Luxury CUVs
Our radar exposed three all-new blips -- the Acura RDX, the Land Rover LR2, and the Lincoln MKX -- and one familiar bogey, the BMW X3. All these first-class CUVs offer a leather-appointed interior, a navigation system, Xenon headlamps, a premium sound system, all-wheel drive, and well over 200 horsepower.

The BMW and Land Rover actually get better miles per gallon! Didn't expect that.

Motortrends reviews are always opposite of every other mag, and why does price in all of their reviews the deciding factor..every other test of these the land rover has gotten last the acura 2nd, and the bmw always first.I gave up on MT a long time ago. and the American comment was a little out of line lol....The sole American in the group, the MKX, sad to say, represents itself as do many-sloppy and overweight.

and the price thing is odd...because the BMW X3 is based on a luxury car, the others in this test are all based on economy cars lr2-escape, rdx-civic, mkx-edge/fusion why would they not be alot cheaper, the only real competitor to the X3 will be the c class based GLK

The Lexus RX should have been here as well. Probably would have won.

Another "Ultimate Driving Machine" is down. Is there still any left?

what a shame to the Lincoln, its bigger than the rest, I thought it competed with the bigger CUV's, like the MDX, RX, etc... but yet it even failed against the smaller ones.
Ugly looks, cheap interior (as usual), ugly interior still square speedometers?? are we still in the 1980s or what? ugly steering wheel, not reliable what so ever, God is there ANYTHING good to be said about it?

The X3 is is need of an exterior makeover...it is beginning to look dated. If I was forced at gunpoint to drive any of these, it would have to be the Land Rover. The Lincoln looks like a bloated boat and the Acura is just ugly, IMO.

The Acura is ugly but it drives like a real ultimate driven machine, seriously I'm starting to believe this SH-AWD is the best thing on the market the MDX kicked the X5 butt 3.3 model, and the X3 got whopped by the RDX. Question how can a BMW fan call the RDX interior cheap, it has a better layout than your premium sedan the slow selling 7 Series, minus the old man fugly wood. I like BMW but they should invest less on wood and more on electronis because their interiors are plain.

The 7 series is the best selling 7 series ever.
And how will more electronics make an interior less plain?

i'm sorry "invest less on wood and more on electronis"?????? where have you been living for the past few years, hmm let guess, under a rock or maybe under your car. I thought that was one of the main factors why traditionalist were initially complaining about the newer BMW's. too much electronics and technology. get your facts right bud.

No get your facts right, they where complaining about the stupid I- Drive. I must admit it's a shame that Acura had to copy them but simplified theirs atleast, reason being the touch screen nav was distracting, whatever that means.

Yes, it is too bad they didn't throw in a fully loaded RAV4 V6 AWD in there just for fun. It really would have destroyed them all with its 260HP engine.

RAV 4 is boring and the article was comparing entry level luxury.
