REVIEW: New MDX better than X5 and Cayenne? New target is 'Driver Dad's'
The previous MDX has attracted the "stylish mom," says MDX chief engineer Frank Paluch. The new MDX is aimed at "driver dad who wants a sports car but needs an SUV." But it's not supposed to turn off "family mom" (presumably still stylish). Read Article

The new MDX looks like a minivan/suv cross over. Looks like dog sh!t in my opinion.

Very nice interior. Can't say much about the exterior. But the interior alone and the performance of the V6 is enough to pick this over all of the competitors.

MDX is definitely not a Cayenne or X5 killer.

I'm glad people don't think the new MDX is a BMW or worse yet, a porsche. Who needs thakind of reliability rating. Don't get me wrong, BMW's and Porsche's really stir emotions just by their name and reputation alone. They have always been excellent performance vehicles, however, in a recent test track session, the MDX drove away from the X5 3.0i and the V6 Porsche with or without the more advanced tranction control unit on. With the new active suspension and the 300 hp, the writers were surprised by how good the nurburgring tuned suspension is. Coupled that with practicality and our historical reliability, Acura will once again dominate this segment.

keep in mind the MDX now starts at almost 42k and with options around $50k.

Its no longer the 35-38k SUV.

I'd rather have the X5

Dond hate... apreciate! You all know its better than the X5 and will be way more relaiable... and the price is gone up because now they have the little cute ute to sit under it! I mean does the X5 have live traffic reports??? NO! I'd take this over an X5 anyday... and why is the Cayenne even included in this thread??? Cayenne is an old outdated peice of junk!

The MDX isn't a X5 or Cayenne killer.

Those wanting to own Porsche's second biggest mistake (the first being the 914) will continue to buy Cayennes.

Those wanting the prestige of a South Carolina built BMW will keep buying X5s.

Only people that want an amazingly reliable performance SUV will buy the MDX.

You can't even compare these cars.

It's like comparing a Honda Accord and a BMW 5-series.

And JCF110, you didn't do yourself any favours calling the Cayenne an out-dated piece of junk.

Idiot alert.

A beer for the guy calling the Cayenne a piece of junk. It is - literally. Check out reliability. Then look at it with your eyes - not the Porsche emblem. It's an overweight-looking whale. A blunder of blunders for one of the best carmakers in the world.

Porsche is skipping the upcoming model year. And check out the '08 refresh pics. More of the same.

About the MDX. If you don't need a German emblem as a fig leaf to cover your undersized loins, then this MDX is all the SUV you will ever need. Check out the stats and remember Honda's excellent handling.

It's a great buy as well. So maybe your children will still be able to attend college.

Lets be fair guys..It looks pretty good.. looks much better than the old MDX, and the current Cayenne which is just plain ugly. The X5 is certainly no super model either. I think this is a superb attempt by Acura, but I just couldn't help notice the "very" Audi-like rear brake lights though..

Performance
Still too early to tell, but with the numbers its posting, I don't see why it wouldn't be able to snack on the V6 Cayenne and X5.

Handling etc..
Again..need to see more tests and information, but would not be too surprised either.. Honda is very capable of bulding cars that can handle well, but generally waters down their products so that they can appeal to the masses.. I don't think Acura dealers will have any problems moving this...

Well,I drove the the 06 cayenne,x5 and the 05 MDX.I must telling that German vehicle are still good but Lexus and Acura are better.I'm not surprised that the new MDX outperfoms the x5 and the cayenne because the 05 MDX has better handling and feel more powerfull than both of them. We,all know that Honda makes better
cars than VW.You can't compare the 5 series BM with a honda accord in term of performance but the v6 exl accord will be a good candidate for BM 3 series and without doute is more reliable than anything that BM,VW/audi/Porshe have in thier line up.Yes,the cayenne is outdate and overate PS

In term of reliability our cars,GM and Ford are right there with or even better than the german ps.So i'm not suprised that MDX eat them for lunch.QQQ
