Review: 2007 Mercedes-Benz ML320 CDI Test Drive
Mercedes’ ML320 CDI midsize diesel SUV combines luxury with outstanding fuel efficiency. Careful with adding options, though, as they can really jack up the price.

Bad news first: If you live in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York or Vermont, you can’t buy the Mercedes-Benz ML320 CDI, or for that matter, any diesel passenger car (as of 2007). Those states have set their own, stricter emissions rules, so even Mercedes’ current diesels, the world’s cleanest, don’t pass muster...

Very impressive. The ML450 Bluetec-Hybrid should be even better.

MB CDIs are always very impressive, though after test driving the newest ML, I find calling it a mid-sized anything is definitely pushing it.

This thing has nowhere near the room of my X5, or even a Toyota RAV4!

what are you talking about? the X5 isn't known for space, it's known for its sport - the ML is known its everyday usefulness and practicality.

The ML is more spacious than our RX330, though not quite as big as the X5. Then again, it is also far easier to drive than the BMW. It may not have sports car handling but it just feels smaller, lighter. That's because it is.

Impressive fuel economy! Better than the RX400h, without question.

My uncle had an ML500 (now drives the RX400h). It left him standed in the Sahara twice and he nearly died of dehydration. He dumped that unreliable POS and bought a quality car. A Lexus RX400h. Now he's crossed the Sahara so often he's bored of it. And the RX400h never broke down nor had to be refueled every 100 miles....
