I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Review: 2007 Mercedes E320 Bluetec - Blue Is the New Green
With the E320 Bluetec, Mercedes-Benz delivers the most fuel efficient luxury car on the American market.

For Mercedes-Benz owners interested in not settling for less (i.e., all of them), there’s the E320 Bluetec, an E-Class sedan that looks and drives like the standard V6 model while delivering well over 30 mpg, enough to save the typical owner about $500 a year in fuel costs. The car can travel more than 700 highway miles on a single tank. In a way, since it delivers better fuel economy and range, E320 Bluetec owners actually settle for more.

For luxury buyers who care about conservation or cutting fuel bills, the Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec is simply unmatched. In our test, it achieved the mileage of a small car with a four-cylinder engine, and did so without skimping on the performance, comfort and features you expect from a Mercedes sedan...

a truly impressive car...E-class ride, comfort and looks with the mileage of a small 4 cylinder car.

the numbers speak for themselves and i believe the coming diesels from MB, BMW and audi will sell incredibly well in the states.

Couldn't agree more, fantastic car as it was, and now the increased benefit of improved MPG.

God you all sound so impressed by a fuel efficient luxury car...I can't imagine how you'd feel if you knew you the E220cdi still had M-B qualities while getting over 35 mpg combined...and 40 + on the highway.

Ah well, you know now.

One of my work colleagues just ordered one. Should arrive in about three to four weeks according to him. Look forward to seeing it.

Superb car. I had the pleasure of driving one for a few minutes. The acceleration was incredible. "This really a diesel?" was my thought.

WOW! 38 on the highway! There's no reason not to get one!

Well, actually, there are two:

• Sport package. Why won't they let the Bluetec buyers have the normal E-Class's sexy, no-cost appearance package? And you can't have a bodykit, either-- only optional wheels, which are accessories.

• AWD. If they can put 4Matic in the GL and ML diesels, then why not at least make it an option on this car?

Otherwise, it's flawless.

Give them time on the second bullet point. Most companies produce either a FWD or RWD first and then bring out a AWD.

Also AWD usually decrease fuel economy. They want to put the good numbers on the board before bringing a car over with lower numbers.

It will eventually happen though. Maybe not this generation, it might be the next generation.

I agree wholehardedly on the first bullet point. I think that that's a point of contention industry wide for all automanufacturers. Why can't the modern public design a car from the ground up around a base platform. Why do products like fog lights have to be tied into an all inclusive $5000.00 option package with DVD navigaition and every other bell and whistle you don't want...Im looking at you Nissan. I think the public in general is getting sick of these packages, and the car companies better take note sooner rather than later.
