Review of the supercharged and turbocharged Golf GT
The humble VW Golf has come a long way over its 30 year history. No longer just an affordable econo-box, the Golf has grown substantially in both size and weight with each new generation and now comes with niceties you’d expect in much more expensive metal. Build quality is better than some luxury makes and even the interior trim and mechanicals are the same as you’ll find in various Audi models. Read Article

yes the A3 has some similar controls and is the closest Audi to VW

The Q7 shares 17% with the VW

the TT has some similar parts but very diffrent

so what are you saying? just starting a flamewar so we will get the amazingidiot and some other BMW fanboys to restate the same things they have posted 1,000 times?

bulldogz, you're one of the worst Audi haters on this site. I'm sick of you. Go get yourself kicked off.

The only visible part that the Golf shares with the A3 (that I can think of) is the red trip computer screen in the middle of the gauges. The rest of it is a slight step down, but it's still a very high-quality machine.

um...yeah...S4 I am, considering my last car was one...hmmm. The key difference is that yours is an extension of your penis and needlessly defend any and all Audis whether the criticism is true or not. Me, I call them as I see them based on opinion i.e. the uninspiring A6 rear, the chintzy Q7 carpeting and the plasticky A4 interior. Because you disagree with this, I am by default wrong and hate Audi.

Do you realize how dumb you sound some times? No, really do you?

Now go get your shinebox.

hey, anyone notice the refreshed A8 on the left? Don't lige how the grill slats went from horizontal to vertical, but like how they went with LS460-style tailpipes...

bull the photoshop shows the A8 W12 exaust. I don't think the A8 will get that exaust.

I don't think the 2005 A8 W12 copied the 2008 lexus but Audi has invented time travel but they could have.

Audi built a time machine, went into the future to see the new lexus, and then went back in time to copy the lexus.

You make have something here. They could have gone into the future to design the 2002 S4 to have a biturbo V6 like the 225 BMW. They could have gone into the future to design quattro to copy the Xdrive.

The A8 W12 came out in 2005. Those are the W12 exhausts. I've seen the "normal" refreshed A8 and it still has the current circular exhausts.

If you want to play the childish, incredibly annoying "copying" game, the LS460 copied them from the W12, which probably copied its exhausts from the BMW X5 4.8is.

Christ, relax I didn't say they copied Lexus. I simply like the LS exhaust tips.

Do you girls get this upset when your boyfriends stand you up?

Just what VW needs more complexity and less reliability.

VW builds awesome cars they just don't hold up well at all. It's always stupid stuff like window switches. VW, Jag. and Land Rover should all be under the same autogroup the way they build cars.

The German-built models hold up very well. It's the mainstream ones we get in the US, built in Mexico, that aren't so hot.

I loved my 84 Rabbit!! The new GTI's are missing something. Not sure what it is though.

"The innovative gearbox is not completely without its faults. When accelerating hard from slow speeds or standstill, there can be a small delay before power is transferred to the wheels. This gets very annoying, especially when you come out of turn and the car hesitates before moving on."
-
"Softer suspension sees more lean going into corners"
-
"its steering isn’t as sharp and it requires more effort to prevent understeer."
-
"We’d like to say the Golf GT fits in with the affordable performance image but against cheaper alternatives from Asian rivals, the VW hatch is now the premium choice rather than the prudent one."

Sport, you're so right.

Amazing how every volkswagen is praised for it's build quality, where does that build quality go after 15k miles? I owned a 2001 jetta vr6 and it was a nightmare right after the absurdly short (last year of 2 year/ 24k) warranty ran out.
