the source may be TundraHQ, but specs are specs and facts are facts.

the tundra IS a far better truck. but that's only to be EXPECTED. the dodge is the OLDEST design among the full-size trucks. toyota benchmarked the NEWEST designs.

OF COURSE the tundra ended up better.

It's too bad a Tundra could never look as nice as an SRT10.

Toyota Trucks have always been reliable and durable. Very respectable machinery for the job they are designed to do. Dodge has been in the truck business for some time as well. I think it all boils down to brand loyalty. If someone's been buying Dodge most of their life they will continue to. Much goes for Ford F-trucks as well. Whichever they feel more comfortable with. Throughout the US the road and interstates are littered with Tundras, Dodge Ram's, and Ford's.

I'm sure we can agree on one thing and that Dodge/Ford/Toyota are the favorites. The Nissan Titan I haven't seen so much but it is in no league with a Toyota in terms of the battle of the Japanese Trucks.

I am a Tundra fan (2000 SR5), but you need to drive the Titan. The new Tundra on paper is much better, but comparing full-zoot 2WD's, the Tundra is $7000 more than the Titan. The Titan may be second best to the Tundra, but I was totally impressed driving one. I struggling with the huge price differential.

BTW, I think the Silverado must be included. Even in LA, I see more Chevy's than Tundra's. I never hear the Chevy owner's stories from any Tundra owners. I feel for the crappy quality they bought.

I don't like the rims. It looks like a riced out Truck. It's not as aggressive as the SRT10. But if Toyota changes the wheels it would be nice.

"HEMI gets 8mpg but also gets respect."

I personally think that the mpg thing has been blown way out of preportion. So what if a person wants to buy a vehicle with 8 mpg? If that person can afford to fill it up at the gas station, it isn't anyone's business to tell him otherwise. I don't think that mpg should be an issue in comparisons (except hybrids), especially for trucks and SUVs.

LexusIS350,
Why shouldn't mpg be compared, even if it's not a primary concern? If a vehicle can do the same or better while using less fuel, it's obvious which one is better engineered.

Because face it, trucks/SUVs aren't well known for their mpg rating. Those who are buying in that market should know before hand that they shouldn't expect anything in the high 30s.

Fanboy,
Toyota's next hybrid system should show us smaller batteries and higher output. The new batteries that they'll be using aren't exactly a secret.

There have already been reports of the new Prius getting 113mpg (imperial gallons), it should be in the neighbourhood of 90+mpg US and 70mpg+ real world.

One thing that wasn't mentioned is that the Dodge is the safest truck with a 5 star crash rating and the Toy only has 4 in last place out of the pact! The toys engine is definatly impressive but the frame sucks! American trucks used to do this in the past and have learned from the imports that a fully boxed frame is best. Is toyota trying to dummy up so America will like it? Nobody makes a good half ton if you had any intentions on taking it off road! The braking is impressive from both especially the toy!

What moron would test the supposedly best truck(Tundra) and best car company(Toyota) ever in the history of the world (Tundra) to the worst truck(Dodge) from possibly worst car company ever in the world(Chrysler w/o the Daimler)? Oh yeah the moron that is not quite sure if the Tundra would actually beat a better opponent. Up Next the Mazda B-series truck?

If the Tundra is so great it would have a 5 star crash rating and a fully boxed frame like the Dodge. I would never want a Dodge but it is better than the Toyota in those departements and that could be a matter of life and death! I would like to see a half ton truck capable of blasting down the Baja at 120mph capable of some serious air and street legal. For this to happen it must lose some weight and increase wheel travel dramatically! The problem with ALL the current trucks is they all lack suspension travel and weigh too much! If they lost weight like the trophy trucks they would be more responsive and fuel mielage would improve! And who de boosted me and why? Please share your superior knowledge of trucks, and I am not saying Dodge is the half ton to get like "ROCKER" points out,(It is just that Toyota needs to fix a few things)

I would never say that the Ram is a bad truck. It has a 5-star crash test rating, good handling, good brakes, great power, and good looks. What's not to like? The bottom line is that the Tundra is just a little bit better...but that doesn't mean the Ram is bad. Not at all.

rocker the Hemi is the only truck that will compar well with the Tundra. With the 8 to 10 thousand I saved with my 07 Hemi I have chiped it put a K&N air kit on it and dueld it. I now have more hours power and tq. At a fraction of the price. No question the Toyota is better then any 1/2 ton but over priced. You could by a 2500 or 3500 desel for the price of a Tundra.

Truckdude, I said do not compare it to the Ram because Dodge makes the worst of the 3 other competitors. That means I am not endorsing the Dodge or the Toyota. Did I use too many big words for you? We would all like to drive trophy trucks(my idol was always Walker Evans back in the day) but they are not very senseible for the street.

rocker dude I am not disagreeing with you, on the contrary I agree 100% with your wisdom! Although I think they could definatly produce a watered down trophy truck for the street! The trucks currently resemble car suspension as opposed to what a truck suspension should be in a trophy truck. When I say watered down version I mean instead of 700HP why not 250ish and 35in tires insteat of 37'S? and a useable interior space. With all that suspension I would guarante a smoth ride.My 4-runner rides like a tank with its IFS front suspension.

Wrong rocker the dodge is the only truck that will compet with the power of the Tundar. Chevy and Ford are under powerd.
