The thing about supercars is that they're typically not that flexible. In other words, if you buy a Porsche 911 GT2 RS, you likely won't be too comfortable driving it around pothole-ridden, urban roads.
However, the new McLaren MP4-12C is singing a different tune. According to Chris Harris, of EVO Magazine, it is really like having three cars and even goes as far as to compare it to having E-Class-like ride quality, GT3 sharpness and 458's thrills.
Could it be THAT good or is Harris just puffing it up because it's British?
Anyway you slice it, "the Macca" is a helluva product and it all sounds very interesting. We'll take ours in orange, please.
What is it?
The new McLaren MP4-12C, rival to the Ferrari 458 Italia, offspring of Ron Dennis. It costs £168,500, so is cheaper than the Ferrari, too.
Technical highlights?
No roll bars, no LSD, hydraulically supported and connected suspension, adaptive dampers, a little under 600bhp, 1301kg dry, carbon tub, optional ceramic brakes, brake assist, twin turbochargers. More technology than we’ve ever seen in a sports car before....
