Back when Jay Leno got one of the first cracks at the Volvo C30 Polestar, one of Polestar's head honchos quipped that the tuner had affectionately nicknamed that vibrant blue color Swedish Racing Green.
To be quite honest I found it hilarious.
Now Polestar has brought Leno what I would consider one of the most hotly debated Volvos in some time. That, my friends, would be the S60 Polestar concept. While the C30 stirred the pot, the S60 version made the equivalent of a sonic boom when it was tested by a European publication and did MUCH better than the Audi RS4 Avant and BMW M3.
The reason why this is so important isn't because there could be a possible M3/RS4/C63 competitor, it's because what you're witnessing is essentially the birth of another AMG-like brand. It's clear that Polestar is becoming a bigger influence in the Volvo sphere with vehicles now able to get chipped by Polestar straight from Volvo.
After seeing these two concepts, it's clear that Polestar is well on its way to producing mass marketed vehicles for Volvo.
That said, it's important to see what may be coming down the pipe...
Volvo's racing partner has tuned up the S60 to hit 0 - 60 in 3.9 seconds at 508 hp - yet it's still 99% stock parts.
