[During our test drives on Mallorca, incoming goods were emergency able ton measure braking distance, VDA lane CHANGEs and NO crash tests.] But: The comparison showed that the Japanese with the Lexus put the safety measuring pole with the active systems for accident prevention on a new level. [However, the comparison has shown that the Japanese have stepped UP the game on the safety level.] Lexus philosophy is thereby another than with Mercedes. More work is removed from less experienced drivers, it comes with dangerous situations better clearly. Thus it stands for 1:0 now for Lexus - continuation follows. [The LS is the more better choice for the less experienced more driver. So far, it's 1-0 for the Lexus. More test ton follow.]

Fact is most verdicts have been based on driving dynamics more often than safety.which actually doesnt do justice to lexus models.it doesnt suprise me at all that on the basis of safety lexus models are best in their respective segments.atleast i know that their cars come with more airbags than their rivals.this results surely doesnt put the S class to shame in anyway.cheer up merc fans and merry x'max.

well ofcourse the LS460 is better then the S class safety wise, that's the beaty of japaense cars. German cars do provide safety, but not as good as japanese cars. The engines of all Japanese cars is like a "rock" German cars are known for there performance.

Well, generally the Mercedes is more of a drivers or enthusiasts car where you have some seat of your pants feel, while Lexus has generally been a soft luxury ride with reliability, hence the "better choice for the less experienced driver".

I don't think its a slight, but just a comment on the different demographics of each brand.

I don't see what the big deal is. They're both at the top in this class, they're both safe and they both appeal to different crowds. Both are bestsellers. Who cares which is safer?

At the time of Princess Diana's death, the Mercedes S Class was the safest car on the planet. Did it help?

No matter how safe cars are, something can still happen.

Willis, u really have no diea whar u r talking about. Me and my cuzins bought new cars in the same year (2003). I bought my Lexus, second cuzin bout a BMW, and the third bought an Audi. The Audi caught on fire 2 months right after he bought it; later, he found out Audi did a recall on the A4 and even today he still has problems with it. The otehr cuzin who had the BMW had to get rid of it cause he just couldnt afford the maintenaince. Its kept on giving his problems! regardless of any waranties from any car manufacturuer cause we all know there's tricks to them! and guess whose car is still PERFECT, MINE! NEVER, EVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT!!!

You guys call the S-class a true driver's car,well you can't even do a couple donuts on the S-class without it breaking down,that right there shows me that the S-class is not made to be driven aggressive!!!(defently not sports car like).

Bill, I didn't take nething from the "How to praise Lexus and bash German cars" bible. Every1 please read this carefully, I don't like repeating myself. (read my earlier posts from this topic) I'm not bashing at german cars, I love them! All I'm saying is that the Japanese have the best cars in the world as far as safety and/or reliability is concerned. Again, the germans are known for there performance! The germans have the best cars in the world, thast a fact! Porsche, BMW, and ofcourse MB. I really, truly beleive if it wasn't for Lexus, the prestige of Japanese cars would not exist. I mean, I hate infinity, acura...these cars r really bs. If I was to ask a question , what is the best japanese car? 9/10, ure first words would be Lexus.

Acura's flagship is the 3.5 RL, worth about $55,000-60,000. (probaly the same for Q45) Both of them have weak engines, there not as strong and never will be compared to the LS460. The price of 3.5 and q45 are in the same league against the GS from Lexus.
It doesn't take a genious to figure out that the GS is not the flagship of Lexus! THe LS460L is close to $73,000 and wait until the LS600 comes out, that is expected to be atleast between $90,000-$100,000.

What Lexus lacks is the performance. I like the GS from Lexus, when u look at it u figure to horsepower should be atleast 400! but sadfully, its only 340 and thats the hybrid version! the LS600 will be approx. 444, impressive yest, but not as impressive as the Germans. ALready u have in the market so many german cars that have surpassed that speed of power! Then u have LF-A, Approx. 500 bhp, which isn't even out in the market. BMW and some other had cars (M5,M6)with 500bhp were aleady out in the market! And with respect to Italians, we cannot froget Lamborguini, Ferarri, Maserati, etc. Porsce has the best brakes, there ceramic. They do not get "heated" so quickly.

In essence, Lexus has to spend more time and money on resaerching and developing theri performance structure. Lets just c how fast the IF-F will be, once it enters the market. I'm sure its safe to say, we are all anxiosly awating.
