Audi has continued to gain in popularity as an employer among students in the engineering sciences. This is the conclusion of a study by the Trendence Institute published today. Coming fourth last year, Audi has climbed to second place in this year’s rankings. Dr. Werner Widuckel, Board Member for Human Resources at AUDI AG, commented, “To a great extent, graduates want to identify with the products of their preferred employer. During the next eight years, we will be extending our product portfolio from the current 22 to 40 models.

And we are the car brand that is enjoying the strongest growth. Factors such as market success and innovative strength, interesting work tasks and individual opportunities for development play an important role in choosing one’s employee.” It is through these factors that Audi is striving to become the most attractive employer. “HR work is thus a major pillar of our corporate strategy. Indeed, only motivated and committed employees ensure company success,” remarked Widuckel. He also noted that an attractive employer stands out on account of turning the company’s success to the employee’s profit. In this year alone, company profit-sharing has allowed employees to benefit from last year’s success to the tune of 3,700 euros on average.

This year the company with the four rings is offering rewarding professional opportunities to a further 600 academics. Audi is thereby increasing the number of new appointments by an additional 150 jobs, responding to the need for engineers in particular. Scientists from economics and humanities fields are also sought.

Head of Personnel Marketing Alfred Quenzler stresses that Audi considers it important that students receive individual support from the very outset, starting with applicant meetings at recruitment fairs, and continuing through to support for trainees as well as masters and doctoral students. A diversity of trainee programmes (see box) allows Audi to offer tailored career-entry opportunities based on the graduates’ qualifications, professional experience and personal preferences. “It is important to us to give young people prospects for the future. Not only do we build fascinating products and offer an attractive and secure working environment with challenging work tasks; we also provide a wealth of development prospects and international opportunities,” commented Quenzler.
