Despite the MotoGP series being on its summer holiday, John Hopkins and Chris Vermeulen will return to action this weekend as guest stars at the annual Rizla Racing Day at Assen.

Both will demonstrate the Suzuki GSV-R at the historic Dutch circuit, which stages its annual celebration of all forms of motorsport. The MotoGP demo will be a non-competitive aside to add top a one-day package already containing the German F3 series, European Superkart Championship and the latest rounds of the Dutch Superbike, Supersport and Superstock Championships.
I’ve been really interested in this event since we were asked to attend,” Vermeulen admitted, “It is something so different that it will be great to be involved.

“I have a big interest in cars as well as bikes, so I’m hoping I get the chance to have a good look around the Supercars and see them in action. This is something quite unique having cars, bikes and karts on the same programme and I’m really pleased that we will be there as special guests to show the Dutch fans what our bikes can do!

For the first time in the event’s eight-year history, fans will now have the opportunity to see the Rizla Suzuki GSV-R prototype bike ‘up close and personal’, as Hopkins and Vermeulen put the machine through its paces around the 4.5km track. Two five-lap demonstration runs are planned, at 1315hrs and 1400hrs local time.
