Every time a super car makes its debut some little boys and girls fall in love. When the Audi R8 was unveiled, nearly everyone did.
There's no doubt that Audi's take on the super car stunned many but that doesn't have the brand slowing its pace. Now that we've seen the likes of a V10, a Spyder and the hardcore GT version, it seems that Audi is plowing on through with an all-new generation coming to market around 2014.
BUT, before that, you can expect the R8 to get a nice update since it's debut. Slated to make the refresh is the long-awaited dual-clutch transmission, improved MMI -- hardware and software -- from the all-new A6 and more power from that gnarly V10.
CAR Magazine even says that there will be an RSe making its debut by the end of 2012, which is an electric alternative.

Audi is gearing up to replace the R8 supercar in spring 2014 and the next R8 is tipped to follow an evolutionary look, as depicted in our new artist's impression.
But it's not the first change to the R8. Later in 2012, Audi will give the R8 a mild facelift and tech update. It will be fitted with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission instead of the sequential six-speeder, the improved MMI hard- and software we know from the latest A6, the power output of the V10 increases from 525bhp to 540bhp, and at the end of 2012 the limited-edition electric RSe will satisfy those Prius owners who crave a bit more zero-emission grunt...
